DESK CHAIR I needed a new chair for the desk I made and I wanted  to maintain the style of the Danish dinning chairs I have. So I based the design on the Danish chairs but made the seat height a bit higher and used maple instead of teak. I finished it with a varnish/oil blend. I recently re-upholstered the dinning chairs and had some material left over for the desk chair.

LIVE EDGE BENCH Here is a live edge bench I made a few years ago. The ends were starting to split so I put in a couple of teak inserts to help prevent further splitting. Finished with Tung oil.

REPLACING GUNwALES ON A CANOE. I replaced the gunwales, thwarts and decks on this Mad River Canoe. I used Ash which is the same as the original. The gunwales are about 16 feet long so I spliced 2 lengths together to make up the full length for each gunwale. There are inside and outside gunwales so 4 spline joints were needed. I had to pre-bend them so, not having any means to steam them I just soaked them in water, in the hot sun for a day. I finished the wood with an oil finish.
